    What Is Sharjah Muroor?

Now let’s talk about basic things — what is Sharjah Muroor? In Arabic muroor means traffic and each emirate in the UAE is entitled to have its own traffic control agency. Thus, Sharjah Muroor is the official name of the Traffic and Licensing Department. Muroor operates on behalf of Sharjah Police General Headquarters in close co-operation with the Ministry of Interior UAE.

It can be compared to Dubai’s RTA, however, it is responsible only for Sharjah region. Similarly to other emirates, Muroor has to coordinate its activities with other traffic authorities in cases when there is a need for number plates and vehicle inspections.

    Who Must Visit Sharjah Muroor?

You will need to visit Sharjah Muroor in case:

Your residence in Sharjah corresponds to the registered car in Sharjah
Your car is registered in Sharjah, although you are a resident or a visitor from another emirate of the UAE
You are an expatriate living in Sharjah — your car documentation needs to coincide with the emirate you have a sponsor in Sharjah
You had an accident in Sharjah and need to resolve it (if you are a visitor from abroad)
You buy/sell cars registered in Sharjah

If any of those situations are typical for you, this article will help you out in the future.
